Unexpected trespassers

A few years ago I organized an outdoor team building event in the fields and forests near the lake Balaton. It was really exciting, teams were given 4WD Jeeps and they had to navigate from station to station using some blind maps and radio instructions.

One of the tasks was crossing a river with an old bridge on it. The bridge was in awful condition, even I had concerns about crossing it on foot, and going across by a heavy car seemed impossible. But we had really smart engineers and tech guys in all teams, so we provided some materials for them to repair the bridge and make it stronger.

We were waiting for the teams to arrive when on the other side some unexpected guests arrived: a herd of cows from the nearby village wanted to march home peacefully. They were as surprised as we were, there is usually no one on the other side when they have their usual daily walk home... they were cautious and stopped in front of the bridge. But then the bravest stepped on it and the others started to follow slowly.

I was so excited - the cars could have arrived in any minute and I was afraid that the cows would be frightened and would not go home... But finally, it all turned out well: the cows marched away and in a few minutes we heard the cars arriving. Huh, it was a relief... The guys repaired the bridge, so from then on the cows could trespass safely.

Conclusion: when you prepare such programmes, you should consider other factors besides the human ones... There might be animals using the territory you plan to "invade"... :-)))

LOL! That's awesome! Yep, you never know when animals might decide to mess up your plans. I was just telling someone yesterday about the time I had to call my doctor's office and apologize for running late, but some wild turkeys wouldn't get out of the road and let us pass... 😂

Great photos too, and I'm glad to hear the cows will be able to trespass safely now!

Oh, that story with the turkeys is also great. I can imagine your doctors face... :-)

Since the doctor also lives in this general vicinity, she was like, "Yeah, I know what you mean. This one time..." LOL!

Those turkeys are getting around! LOL!

Same turkeys, and same story - that's why I thought of it - LOL!

It's crazy! There are no coincidences!

What a coincidence! I was thinking the same thing! 😂

Well that must have been kind of fun to receive an unexpected visit in the form of a bunch of cows!

It was funny and worrisome at the same time... :-)

Great post!
Thanks for tasting the eden!

Great story about the cows! They didn't seem to mind the bridge!

Yes, they got used to it I guess... :-)

Woow amazing you're post... @ksolymosi

That bridge does look scary, for humans as well as cows. At least it has the solid steel framework, although not much else. Great little story of nature coming together to say hello, even tentatively.

Yes, nature crosses our plans sometimes...
Thanks a lot for visiting! :-)

Nice work! And very nice of the cows to stress test the bridge for you

Hahaha... I guess that's their usual daily walk there... :-)

Cows are clever, finding an easy route to the paddock possibly @ksolymosi lovely photography from a phone.
