A capuchin monkey and it’s baby

Back in 2016 when my Dad, mom, brother and I went on a family holiday back to South Africa to visit family and attend my oldest uncles wedding. We had a amazing time and saw and did a lot of things we have never done before the trip. One of them was walk through a monkey sanctuary.

This is a small family of monkeys that followed us for a majority of the time while we were there. If I remember correctly the male standing behind the female and it’s baby was the main leader of all the monkeys in the sanctuary at the time. He was getting a bit old and at the time was getting close to being over dominated by a younger monkey.

This little guy followed us all the way through the tour and is the most cheekiest monkey in the sanctuary. He was rescued from a bunch of criminals that were teaching him to pick pocket people. He was still learning to not steal as he would take anything that was there for the taking 😂.

Capuchin monkeys are pack animals usually comprised of about 10 to 20 monkeys of both sexes and the dominant male is the leader. To attract a female, the males urinate on their hands and rub it all over there bodies in hope to find a mating partner. These cute little guys usually live up to 50 years in captivity.

I hope everyone enjoys this post and keep an eye out for a new one soon 🙂.

O -adorable. Not sure about the smell after reading that!

I love Capuchins! (not quite as much as pygmy marmosets, but they're so cute too XD) So did he nick something of yours? XD
