My post really has nothing to do with Francis Bacon's deep, philosophical thoughts but everything to do with me playing with light while out hiking at Fort Ord National Monument in Salinas, California. Basically, I enjoy contrast in all things: personalities, art, within my own self... Here are a few examples of how my love of that contrast manifests itself in my photography.

Hiking late in the day brings those moments when the sunlight finds its way through the branches and puts on quite a show.

Rattlesnake weed has been one of my constant photographic challenges. If it's not the wind blowing too hard then the light or background isn't right. Heavy sigh. On this dewy morning, I just gave up caring and opted for good instead of perfect. I really like that white hot light!

Another opinion poll: Do you prefer the black and white or the color version? This is a tough decision for me...hmm.
