This is the irrigation canal that is up in the mountains near us. This is quite an amazing canal, hand dug in the 1800"s, when they had a vision to grow apple orchards. This canal meanders for miles up in the Cascade mountains, and in spots they cut through solid rock to carve out tunnels.
Unfortunately this is snow country, and we have seen waist deep snow, and some of the old buildings have actually collapsed under the snow load.
Today the water irrigates fields and yards of the home owners .....
