The Calm Before the Rain

in smartphonephotography •  6 years ago

Stopped working for a moment to move inside on a new job I'm doing out on the island. Took a few pics to share.

Thunder rolling in off the sea. Rain is sure to come.

Yep. Getting darker looking toward the gulf, it won't be long.

I love the smell of the sea-oats and pin grass mixed with the smell of fresh sand after the rain is gone and the waves have calmed. Nothing like a late afternoon shower to end the work week. Perfect. Rolling up and heading home early - woo-hoo..

It's been rainy up this way as well. Awesome captures of the stormy skies - hope you have an excellent weekend! 😊

The view looking out to sea is really nice! Would love to put up a hammock and relax with a view like that, a cool breeze and the sound of the water. More often than not I go to the beach side for dinner but almost never go to the water to relax and listen.

I just got up out of the hammock to take the pictures. Here in South Texas, the canal homes are all connected to Laguna Madre on the backside of the island. It's truly an inspirational place. The waters are calm, shallow and bird/aquatic life abounds. The sunsets will make you cry. The solitude will rejuvenate your soul. Life everywhere...

Rejuvenate the soul, now that does sound truly magical ^o^

Then Laguna Madre is the place. It's a forgotten world, no man's land, breeding grounds for migratory birds, fish, deer, coyotes, I've even saw a brown bear out there. Just take lots of water, food, and shelter from the mid day sun. I made a bush crafted hooch to hide it and enjoy the day with a little herb.
