First of all, yes, again, I know the difference between defunding the police and abolishing the police. Still, when BLM issued the statement about Smollett they used the word "abolish" instead of sticking to defunding. I don't think it's a radical assumption to make that a great many people who are saying that we should defund the police actually do mean that police should be abolished.
Now, here's the thing -- I agree that we should abolish the police as a matter of principle. It's hard to be an anarchist who is also supportive of a centralized police force. The thing is I follow up my beliefs regarding cops with the belief that people should have the right to have guns and that we should have a right to use guns in self-defense and, prior to getting rid of the state, self-defense laws should look more like Florida than Massachusetts.
The "abolish the police" rhetoric is completely nonsensical if not downright horrifying if you couple it to the rest of the radical left.
How are you a trained Marxist who is anti-police? Who will enforce taxes on the wealthy? Who will step in if a company isn't operating as a worker co-op? Are you just going to have an auditor with no ability to force compliance? Who would issue warrents against any of these rich people who don't want to toe the Marxist line?
These people who want to abolish the police don't seem to be too fond of the Second Amendment. Who's going to enforce gun laws and buybacks? Y'all don't want people to have the right to self-defense and; if you do, you want it to be heavily restricted or abridged. Who are you going to call if you are being assaulted or threatened? You don't want vigilantes; you've made that clear. So, you don't want people be able to call the cops. You don't want people to be allowed to use guns to defend themselves. You don't want third, independent parties to be allowed to protect you or your property. So, you want everybody to be at the mercy of the most violent and physically strongest people. Either that or you're living in a fantasy world wherein everybody will just start acting nicely to each other.
