More Than 1 Billion Peeps Every Year

Over 1 billion peeps get eaten every spring.

The most popular color of all the Peeps happens to be yellow. They've also come up with limited edition flavors over the years too. This meant flavors coming to market like Blueberry Delight, Chocolate Pudding, Cotton Candy, Pancakes and Syrup, Hot Tamales Fierce Cinnamon, and Root Beer Float. You can even find Peeps coffee creamer and cereal too.

They've been using the same recipe and machine to make the Peeps candy that they've used for the last 50+ years. It is loved by millions and has solidified its position as the most popular non-chocolate Easter candy item on the shelves.

Back in 1953, it allegedly took 27 hours to create a Marshmallow Peep but today the peeps are made much faster, one being made in about six minutes.

They have recently had to shut down the factory in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, that helps make the Peeps, but they had already shipped the Easter inventory to stores before the closure. So your local store should be fully stocked on Peeps.

The Peeps are made by the Just Born Quality Confections which is a business that was founded back in 1910. You can also find Peeps being made all year long now, it isn't just for the Easter holiday and spring season any longer.

But no matter how many people love and continue to buy them, some people will just never be a fan. People have even gone so far as to create social media groups that are dedicated to hating Peeps.

Still, the Peeps will continue to see success and be just fine in that regard thanks to those who currently enjoy the sugar-loaded marshmallow treat.

In Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, the Peeps culture is so prominent that for New Years they dropped a giant Peep instead of a ball.

Right now is hot season for candy in the United States, as Easter is the second most popular candy-eating holiday or occasion, right after Halloween. The Easter holiday sales help to account for roughly half the company's annual sales that is responsible for making Peeps.
