Colour of the Black Mamba

The Black Mamba - Africa's most Dangerous Snake and one of South Africa's Deadly Dozen.
There is often confusion about the colour of this snake. It is NOT black.
This photo shows clearly the main coloration of the Black Mamba.
The "gun metal" Grey colour, and the Olive Brown colour.
Size also helps to identify these snakes.
When they hatch out the egg they are about 30 cm long - So tiny black/ grey snakes are NOT Black Mambers.
This is Africa's longest venomous snake. Exceptionally up to 4.5m Average size is a lot smaller, 2.6m - 3m
