SNAPCHAT FIASCO

Snapchat's CEO Evan Spiegal's supposedly affronting remark has taken the internet by storm. The ones talking about Yogi yesterday have now shifted their entire focus to Spiegal. It is interesting to note that some people from the older generation who didn't even know Snapchat existed till yesterday, are now dissing Spiegal for his comment. The nationalist in them has suddenly surfaced as it does in theatres for one or two minutes,on 15th August and 26th January and in between on some days when someone uploads their pictures on social media with a board that says something like 'Pakistan didn't kill my dad, war killed him.' Talking about the youngsters who so prodigally used Snapchat, are being immensely and diversely opinionated about Spiegal's alleged remark. Here are some interesting comments and memes I came across on social media.

There were all kinds of comments including rebuke, severe tongue-lashing, images of people 'flipping the bird', admonishing other people for getting offended and the list goes on. Honestly speaking, even I took offence to his statement and rated Snapchat badly on the appstore. But my question to you is that, is it really necessary to make an issue out of this? I mean there is no confirmation about this allegation. Why does the protest not cease with Snapchat uninstallation? Why do people take to social media to post hate comments about a guy who, mayhap wouldn't even read all of that? Is there not enough negativity in our world on the internet? Do we really need more hate?

Us deleting that app alone will make him realise the implications of his deed. We need not fill the internet with our opinions. No one cares about our opinions anyway. 'To each their own' , remember? So, being opinionated about every damn thing on this planet will only bring forth more fights and arguments. And there are more of those than the world can possibly deal with. So people, forming opinions about everything is okay, just as long as all of them do not find their way into other people's lives via Social Media.
