The Sndbox Plan to Onboard, Engage and Empower

Strategies for Creative Growth

Our goal is to provide resources for creative professionals and entrepreneurs to jump into Steemit and leverage blockchain tech for their practices. We want to approach this through multiple angles, both online and in-person.

Much of the @sndbox content moving forward will focus on how we achieve this and through what activities. One exciting challenge is how to apply the Steemit social structure to a variety of creative entities whether new members are independent freelancers, part of a startup team, or an established non-profit. Molding the Steemit platform to serve as a solution for these newcomers will require the collaborative dialogue of many fellow Steemians.

Beginning today, we’ll present each of our steps in this endeavor so that we can garner your critique and input. Not only do we want to encourage outsiders to come into this community, but we also want to make sure the way in which we on-board new members will provide a great benefit to all Steemians.

The Need for Physical Engagement

Offline, our strategy is to spearhead workshops and meetups in New York City. Our first step is to transform our Brooklyn workspace into a hub where anyone interested in blockchain tech and Steemit specifically can come to experience the wonders of the community first-hand. Last month we started The Creative Blockchain NYC group and we’ll be transforming that as the outlet for future programming.

We want to bring the message to the public. New York is a nexus of so many creative initiatives and coworking spaces where hundreds of thousands of innovative thinkers are compacted within a 10 mile radius. Taking advantage of our location - @sndbox will be developing workshops and lectures to promote the utilization of Steemit. It’s fairly straightforward to onboard individual accounts on Steemit as a personal blogging mechanism but the real challenge lies in systematically applying the technology or various organizational structures as well!

Steemit 101

Let’s tell it like it is - learning about Steemit and how to navigate its structure is a challenge. To absorb key words and bodies of knowledge concerning “blockchain” and “cryptocurrency” is a discouraging obstacle for the average person or organization today. All of us who are familiar with Steemit by this point can imagine all the grand possibilities and applications of the website in professional and personal settings. But if you’re on the outside, it’s very difficult to get to that point imaginatively.

As such, Sndbox will be producing and compiling a comprehensive but very accessible database of Steemit’s structure and use-cases. Much like the post on Tuesday, we’ll be releasing a weekly blog series that explains key technical components of the website, methodologies to make the most out of the platform, and programmatic applications of Steemit to various content-based disciplines. As the list grows, we’ll compile them to provide a one-stop resource.

A Collaborative Commons

Attract, coach and empower. We’re building a collaborative commons. In doing so, the greatest challenge is establishing trust within a brand new technology and smoothing out the steep learning curve every newcomer faces.

We’re excited to be diving in. It will be an exciting path forward! If you have any ideas or experiences, we would love to hear them. Thank you so much for your support.

Muchas gracias para el apoyo!

Great idea, good luck, but I'll never go to NY or the USA for that matter.

Could you make a post about the 3 types of steem in the Wallet? I am new and don't know what that is all about.

Thanks for the support! We're actually preparing a post exclusively on how the wallet works for this coming Tuesday, be sure to visit again!

I would love to see a live stream of your NY workshops and meetups. That way you can reach millions, including me.

Thanks for the suggestion @gggreenhouse! We'll definitely try to pull it off during our next workshop!

tks you for sharing !!

Anytime my friend.

Sndbox seems to hold a lot of promises... I will be looking out for more on this. Nice work on this so far. Upvote!

Thank you sir!

It is simultaneously uplifting and quite disheartening to read about this form of "geographical empowerment". It seems that, even on the internet, when you live in the hinterlands USA it is disadvantageous. Well, I hope that NYC doesn't take this opportunity for granted!

We'll be trying our best to nurture activities all around the US as well and will be looking for partners on that soon. Don't worry, we won't silo ourselves off in NYC!

Your project looks very interesting @sndbox, I am sure this will surely developed and gives a good impact to the steemian's, I personally strongly support this program. How can I join this community.

Thanks for the support @herzaseptian! As of now we're focusing on integrating professionals who have never been near blockchain into Steemit. In the coming months we'll definitely be introducing ways for fellow Steemians to be involved. Stay tuned!

Thank you so much for the information @sndbox, I can't wait anymore waiting for your next post.

Keep an eye out for our "State of the Sndbox" weekly series where we'll be introducing new Steemians!

The exciting challenge is how to apply the Steemit is very important to start with.

Absolutely, it's an exciting challenge indeed. There are so many ways that Steemit and the STEEM ecosystem can be applied (and disrupt) professional practice.

Great and thank you, have been here just over a month and the technical blogs are still way beyond me. I look forward to reading your upcoming posts.

We're glad this can be of help! Thanks for the support ~

Great idea! It is a little daunting (and frustrating) at times trying to understand and work within the established culture and language of steemit. This helps a lot.
Have you looked at booking a slot on MSP Waves Radio. Another Steemit Group involved in helping new members. It's streamed in conjunction with Discord (chatroom) and Twitch. A weekly two hour slot discussing your new blog series would probably benefit everyone involved. I think @sircork is the contact...

thanks for the information

Thank you for reading!

Thank you for this valuable information

Congratulations @sndbox!

Very cool!

You clearly have a great goal here. But I am still a bit uncertain what you offer to people outside of NY. Could you explain that a little bit more?

Thanks for the support @flauwy! I'd be happy to try and clarify. First off, we'll be doing weekly posts like yesterday's that provide resources and development tips for all Steemians. We use these documents as the foundation for Sndbox development and want to share as much as we can with others. Second, we're working with many people beyond NYC and hope to on-board more in the near future. This part we'll be developing in posts in the coming weeks so we'd love to get your feedback then as well.

I am happy to help and give feedback where I can. I think your project is amazing. Right now I wish I would live in New York to be closer to the action.

I get the feeling we may see some kind of pseudo real-time steemit / steemit community projects in the form of flash mob steemian meetups ;)

Steemian Gorilla Gardening, anyone?
Or perhaps benevolent acts of steemian crowd support? I think that would qualify as engagement, and make some headlines. Many would be happy to get paid for blogging their volunteering effort, the crowd support approach could bring significant critical mass to neglected but real issues, making the economically nonviable service not only possible, but desirable and perhaps even profitable for the individual.

This should be extremely advantageous to new businesses or small start ups. Curious to watch how this will transform. Everyone still looking at me like I have 2 heads when I tell them about steemit. It is a slow process but I am confident it will happen. Thank you. 🐓🐓

Thank you for the support @mother2chicks! That's definitely our goal.

I'm beginning to get a better understanding of your vision and it's a beautiful thing! Also, grateful for the link to @kevinwong's Collaborative Commons post - which I found to be an excellent.

Kevin's post was excellent and definitely gives a great sense to what we're trying to achieve. Thank you for your support @natureofbeing!
