This is my short attempt at analyzing a post by @thegalavantgirl as part of quest 1 task 3 for the Sndbox summer camp quest. Find this post analyzed here which was her latest post.
I have done very little curation on steemit. Mostly for the air-clinic where we choose daily articles that touch on health issues. I hope to be found as objective as possible because I feel a little bit biased as I did like this post.
My overall opinion on the above post
Introduction and creation of a hook to the readers
@thegalavantgirl has a very wonderful way of introducing the post and ensuring that we connect with her by telling us a personal story which she later connects to her recipe. I really found that interesting and a wonderful way to keep the reader interested and hooked. I never read those books or that story before. But I went to find out more about the rabbits from reading this post. That served as a learning experience for me.
Formatting, Illustrations, and subtopics on the post
The formatting of this post clearly shows that this is an experienced writer. Someone who takes their time to ensure that their work is presentable to those who will be looking at it.
The flow of the post was also very well articulated. Subtopics/headings that catered for the discussions beneath them or the continuation of a story or procedure. This organization ensures that one knows and can mark where up to where they have read and go back should they need to easily.
The illustrations on the mischievous rabbits were well chosen and relatable to the story. The picture for the recipe was also well chosen.
I liked the inclusion of the tools part in the recipe. That is something I always overlook on my posts.
Overall I feel that the writer spent a good amount of time on this post, she thought out what she wanted to present and ensured that she had the best way to do it. This eventually paid off with quality content presented to her readers.
Use of links to cater for more information
She provided valid links to the stories she was sharing. I went on to read more about the fictional rabbits and immediately I could relate to the story at a greater depth.
Proofreading and spelling mistakes
Clearly, this article was well written and all mistakes are taken care of.
What I would change or add
Photos and Maybe Video
I would add more photos of the star of the day, The blackberry cake. I have come to realize that people really appreciate photos of the food that you are writing about. I would also, go an extra mile and add HD photos so that I have people drooling over the post. Craving to make that cake.
Most people struggle with baking, It doesn't matter if the instructions are crystal clear like in this post. So maybe I would try a video to go another mile in making the instructions clearer. Since this might not be possible. I would go with clear photos of each procedure in the method as noted above.
Include a serving suggestion with a photo at the end, or the cake cut to show the inside or a decorated one.
