Despite signing a new contract 5-year contract with Liverpool in the early part of 2017, Philippe Coutinho is set to join Barcelona and Liverpool will collect a cool 150 Million euros.
Barcelona are optimistic about signing the versatile attacking midfielder in the January transfer window with the best scenario being a deal being completed in the next week.
Barcelona had attempted to acquire Coutinho last summer butLiverpool refused to cave in as Barcelona announced their intentions to the media. In response, Liverpool publicly stated that Coutinho was not available at any price. Barcelona proceeded to submit bids of $120M and $155M for the attacking midfielder who made his debut for Inter in Serie A as an 18-year-old, but both were rejected by Liverpool. Coutinho even submitted a formal transfer request but Liverpool was not for turning.
However, Liverpool now appears willing to let Coutinho go to Barcelona as they're confident that they can sign Thomas Lemar to replace him.
