This is how the Nations-League-Finals run

This week the Football Nations League group finals take place in Europe and Germany is threatened with relegation. Here are the most important questions and answers of the new UEFA Nations League in case you Steemians are not aware.

The Nations League will start the group finals on Thursday, including a match between vice world champions Croatia and Spain.

In Group 4, Spain will probably win the group, Croatia is nearly done. England can win too.

Germany threatens disaster

The relegation of the German national team from League A could already be decided on Friday, and the four finalists will be determined by Tuesday. Should the Netherlands (three points) win against world champions France (seven), the DFB team will be relegated to league B before the last match against Oranje on Monday.

Iceland and Poland have already been relegated from league A to Ukraine. Georgia move up to League C. Otherwise, there is still a lot of tension everywhere - much to the delight of UEFA, whose President Aleksander Ceferin sees the Nations League as a success.

Some important Q&As around the League

How does the Nations-League mode work?

The teams in each group compete against each other in the first and second leg. This means that each team has four group matches.

The four group winners of the Liga A will play a tournament with semi-finals, match for third place and final in June 2019 (venue still open) - the winner may call himself first Nations-League winner and gets a trophy.

The group winners of the leagues B, C and D will be promoted, the last of the leagues A, B and C will be relegated. (The Nations League table)

What is the idea behind the UEFA Nations League?

Who knows :-)! It is mainly useless bollocks!

Who takes part in the contest?

All teams, means 55 member countries of UEFA. Germany faces a disaster maybe ending last in their group behind France and the Dutch boys. This would mean down to league B.

In the next Nations League, the German national team would then have to play against nominally weaker opponents but major consequences come for the Euro 2020 qualification as the performance of the useless contest here is decisive for the seed list of the group draw for the European Championship qualification.

Can Germany still reach the final tournament?

Nope. For the selection of national coach Joachim Löw it is more about the class retention in league A. The relegation could already be sealed on Friday, if the Netherlands (three points) wins against world champion France (seven).
