Facebook is undeniably the biggest and still leading social network in the world, little to few people do not have a profile on it but it is not the only social networking option.
Besides quite obvious alternatives, there are also some others with the different concepts, maybe even more interesting than the Facebook which is considered even a tad obsolete.

You can also make some cash with the Facebook - links, sales, garage sales etc... but other website also offer the same and some are maybe the ones you never even heard off.

Twitter

The fastest microblogging social network for news, advertising and humongous amount of the spam. On Twitter, you can find any information on the matter of the seconds and join any discussion without the fear to experience deleted account over somebody's sour feeling towards you.
Twitter was said to be a Republic to the Facebook, who slowly evolved into the Evil Kingdom over many security requirements and privacy issues.
