Facebook is making a major change to its News Feed that will favor content from friends over that from publishers and businesses. The move is meant to emphasize “meaningful social interactions” over “relevant content” — at the cost of time spent on the site. CEO Mark Zuckerberg expects that the time users do spend will result in a higher quality experience after the changes, which will take some time to roll out. Pages can expect decreases in referral traffic.
