I've never really understood the whole... Screenshot of someone saying something wrong and/or offensive and something like "just so you know..."
Like... Do you think I don't want to go back and forth sometimes with people I disagree with? When I'm in the mood, I love explaining to someone how they're wrong. Do you think I'm easily offended? I'm literally 41. Do you think they'll be better off if they're surrounded only by other people who agree with whatever bullshit they're spouting, or will it just be like all the other people who get banned and congregate with each other in worse parts of the internet echo chamber ecosystem where they reinforce and amplify each other's crazy? I'd like to think that I'm a relatively positive influence online, actually. Are you afraid they'll corrupt me or something, make me think the wrong things if I'm exposed to them? I don't know... I'm kinda smart and significantly stubborn.
I've just never understood this practice or what it's meant to accomplish exactly. I mean... Irl the company you keep might reflect blah blah blah, but in terms of people you talk to once in a great while online? Why wouldn't you want a pretty wide variety of people and opinions here, including ones that are wrong in some way? Seems like the alternative is a pretty boring, sterile environment, and I wouldn't spend much time here without the diversity.
Don't get me wrong... I'd give a mute to someone promoting, I don't know... Pedophilia or something, or who's legit threatening violence or whatever. But outside of those types of extremes? I'm even following some communists despite them not really being people and if someone from the NSA is reading my stuff, they're welcome to, I wish them well, and I hope you gain something from my content, agent whoever.
