You only need to be awake and aware for a couple hours any given day, with media access, to hear rhetoric about the "Don't Say Gay" bill or stories that red states are banning drag shows.
It really takes minimal effort to read a few of these bills and realize that the media are lying. The word "gay" is nowhere in the "Don't Say Gay" bill. The bill is about preventing government school teachers (aka, agents of the state), from including sexually explicit content as part of the curriculum up to and including the third grade.
None of the bills in question ban anything resembling the last drag show that I went to -- which was was at night, at a bar with a two drink minimum, with adults watching effeminate men in women's clothing performing and making sexually charged gestures and jokes. None of these laws are banning Ru Paul's Drag Race from airing on television in the state.
These laws are about adults engaging in sexually charged behaviour in front of kids. This isn't the criminalization of Rainbow Dildo Butt Monkey expressing himself in general. It's about Rainbow Dildo Butt Monkey not twerking his bare ass, and wagging a foot-long dildo in the faces of young children.
To reiterate this, none of these bills are discriminatory in regard to gay or trans sexual activity while permitting heterosexual sexual content. That would be unconstitutional.
All of these laws apply equally to...say...a book that depicts a man giving another man a blow job as it does to a woman giving a man a blow job. It's just about not subjecting prepubescent children to that content.
So, seriously, what are we supposed to think of the illiberal left at this point? Are we supposed to think that you're all lazy, and not doing basic research before you go out breaking windows in the name of social justice? Are we supposed to think that you're all liars? Are we supposed to think that you're sexual deviants?
If you keep this shit up, it's safe to assume all three.
