Steemit coverage catered to the non-crypto fan, average person

in social •  7 years ago  (edited)

I make posts about interesting cryptocurrency projects catered to an audience that is not familiar with cryptocurrency or blockchain technology. It's simply a one minute overview of how the project works at a dumbed down level and how the every day person could benefit from it. The intent is that the post could be shared with someone who has no interest in cryptocurrency, and hopefully spark their interest. In this post, I will cover non other than the Steemit platform itself :)

Steemit, the social media platform that rewards good content - Get paid for quality posts and contributions.

Steemit, at its core, is a way for bloggers or content creators to earn money outside of traditional advertising revenue. Anyone can make a post to the site and earn rewards if the community likes their post. Think Reddit, except users get paid for every upvote their post receives. If you frequently make popular posts, you could earn a lot of money on Steemit. Head over to Steemit.com and you will routinely see individual posts earning hundreds of dollars. As the platform gains more and more users, the reward amounts will also grow. Dependent on this growth, I think great posts will consistently generate thousands of dollars to the author. Interestingly enough, posting is not the only way to earn rewards. You can also earn rewards by up-voting a post before it becomes popular. This is called a curation reward and is designed to ensure that quality posts gain traction and visibility. Steemit is revolutionizing both how people find content and how content creators are rewarded.

How it works

See video below from the Steemit team:

Users get rewarded with "Steem" for creating content and identifying quality content that other users have posted. How can you benefit from this platform? Create a post on the platform that you think others will value. Let the Steemit community be the judge and watch as they either upvote or downvote your post. Assuming your post has garnered positive feedback, it is correlated to a monetary value, see below:

The values above are in "Steem dollars" which is always correlated to about 1 actual dollar. Users can simply sell their Steem dollars in an open market to receive cash for their work.

If you think about the existing models - Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram - these are platforms that invite people to come and do all this work so that their shareholders, who are not necessarily contributors make all this money
