Are the people were you moved to seem different?

in social •  7 years ago  (edited)

I've moved a couple different times in my life and the first place I moved to I found it hard to find a niche, a feeling of belonging. I've never had that problem before. In the past it was always easy to make a new friend wherever I went. The first answer is it has to be this place. The last place I was in it was way easier to make friends and I had many of them. No way it's anything, but this place. Then I moved again and had the same problem. The analytical creature that I am I started to analyze it. I came up with the theory that people don't have the need to create new interactions when they are in a new place. We have come a long way in the means of being able to contact people over great distances. If someone doesn't find a friend right away they don't have to try anymore. Why worry about it when you have a friend available right inside your pocket or purse. Another aspect is we don't need to entertain ourselves with the company of others when we have entertainment at the beckon of our fingertips. Of course this may just be a sign of I'm getting older and its harder to find people with the age difference at hand or some other aspect. Posting this on the chance of sounding old and out of touch and not trying to shake a stick at technology. I embrace it, but miss the old guys sitting in the store talking about slice bread like it was amazing. Didn't know how they did it back then and still wonder today. What's your experience with moving to a new place. What's your take on it. Have you notice the same or am I getting a bit more antisocial as I get older.
