A YouTube Miracle

How I Screwed Cialis.

Something pretty interesting happened today

on YouTube. To say I hate commercials and ads is pretty understated. I can’t mute them fast enough, I will look away, I will cover my cell phone screen with my hand so they can’t even have the satisfaction of having their brand assault my eyes. I hate being intruded upon. I hate even more the ‘vine’ style ambush ads that are super short and have literally nothing to do with the video I want to watch.

As an example, I watch numerous outdoor channels

like Survival Russia, Fun In The Woods with David Pearson also known as Reallybigmonkey1, Canadian Prepper, Survival Lily, Prepsteaders, Nathan4071, David Canterbury and many, many more.

I have endured ads of all kinds for years on these channels and have come to a sort of balance with the force somewhere between the light and darkness. I’m pretty sure that Canadian Jedis would punch the ad makers in the face with all the force the dark side can muster and then hug and heal them with the light.

Before I tell you about my YouTube miracle,

let me tell you a short story about what happened just a few months ago. As per usual, I receive channel recommendations after every video I watch and I clicked on a lovely english gal who does a lot of outdoor stuff with her parents and dog. She’s still in school.

Her content was raw, her skills completely immature, and is doing a million things I would love to help her improve with. But. I am so glad I stuck with her channel. It was SO heartwarming to watch her parents encourage her so much, and the warm responses from her audience and lack of trolls.

And.

She started to improve quickly. Her skills improved, her content improved and she really stuck with it. Her presentation was very plain, but her absolute, genuine joy and wonder at watching her fan base increase made me want to cheer her on. I watched her excitement as she did her 1000 subscriber giveaway and now she’s over 7K subs and on her sweet way and loving it.

Becky’s channel is called Girl Outdoors. For all intents and purposes that sums up the bulk of what she does on her channel.

Then YouTube did what they do.

Their algorithm antennae twitched as her views and fans increased and they started running ads on her little channel. I tolerated the ads as I always do. I would grit my teeth and try to find balance with the force as per usual and try not to reach out with my feelings and choke the shit out of the ad creators from across a great distance.

And then they did it.

This girl is starting out on YouTube,

her folks are supporting her and getting out in the wilderness with her, camping, canoeing, doing bushcraft, making meals, processing firewood and more.

Becky is a sweetheart.

And.

She’s in her last year of high school.

Cialis, a head to head competitor with Viagra

started advertising their dick med on her channel. And not just advertising. Ambush advertising with a short ‘vine’ style ad that you simply cannot escape from. I don't mean one ad. Every one of her videos.

I really lost my temper with that.

I had zero clue what to do about it and I tried contacting YouTube. Good luck with that right? After stewing about it for a few days, I tried calling Cialis. No way to get ahold of them. Good thing for them I couldn’t reach them and lucky for them I’m not an actual Jedi yet.

So what to do what to do.

I contacted Advertising Standards Canada

and badgered them until they contacted Cialis and kept pestering them until they removed their dick med ad from a high school girl’s YouTube Channel.

Fuck you Cialis you soulless, mindless, corporate pricks. At least I got to stick it in your eye.

Thankfully YouTube found replacement advertisers and I was able to watch mattress ads and trailers for action movies that Becky needs her parents to take her to.

I’ve decided to continue my training to become a Canadian Jedi.

Don’t take it lying down when companies like Cialis shove it down your throat. Stand tall and erect and come to your own conclusion.

About my YouTube Miracle.

YouTube FINALLY ran some ads on some channels that I watch that LITERALLY have something to do with the content I’m watching.

How a company worth untold billions

can survive in this world being as stupid as they are is beyond all rational thought. I’m amazed personally that I actually watched two full ads today and enjoyed them.

In case no one told you today, you are beautiful.

Love,
Bug

this was really cool my friend... always going forward, never surrender until you can achieve what needs to be.
Is incredible the lack of respect / ethics / values for these companies when it comes to marketing.
