As innocent a comment you might have intended it as, there are subtleties in the context you missed. You pissed me off, and I have every fucking right to be.

I get where you were coming from, and upfront acknowledged the truth in your first statement. But you overlooked the sensitivity of the matter and potential inappropriateness of the comment's subtext in context.
