Following Principles out of Conformity or for Incentives or to avoid Disincentives = Religion. Living and Expressing Principles because they have become the Authentic "You", passed the test of your own Critical Thinking, and doing so has no ulterior motive = Life on Purpose, a Life of Principal, an Expression of Integrity...

(further reflections by me in the comments)

We are all conditioned and that is unavoidable, but out of that, with Logic (learned like language etc) and starting with a set of Values (learned and molded via experience) one can test Ideas critically. Once they pass such a test, where they came from or who said them is irrelevant, they are now Your Ideas. You are neither following nor rebelling against an external Authority, You are the Authority over your own life and how you live it.

"We are all conditioned" meaning that unless we have total amnesia, including the elimination of pre-existing neuro-pathways forged by previous conditions/experiences, then even those of us who understand how conditioning works and endeavor to avoid being conditioned (unless we are conditioning ourselves intentionally) are still making choices from the context of previous experience/conditions etc. Generally, we are not making free choices out of an actual void, all of our choices are effected by previous causes all the way back to the initial causes/experiences that we did not choose in the first place... #fbgold
