THE SITUATION IN MY TOWN?

in socialvices •  7 years ago

Recently shop and house burglary, motorcycle and car theft have become rampant in my area (uromi, a small town in Edo state). this has become a great concern to the inhabitants of uromi as no one has been caught. Everyone has been in great fear, in fear of being the next victim.

Few months ago, my dad's office was burgled.
Fortunately for us and Unfortunately for the burglar my dad doesn't keep anything vital (money, documents) in the office except some of his products that he usually display on the canter close to his office. So he found nothing and in frustration he virtually turned my dad's office upside down. the good part of the story was that nothing was lost (stolen) not even a pin of my dad's product.

Few weeks ago same thing was repeated in a gadget (phones, charger, recharge cards, phone case) shop directly opposite my mom's shop. fortunately the landlord of the shop whose house is behind the shop heard the noise and tried to call people to help catch the thief The burgler heard the man's cry for help and flee leaving his Burglary instruments behind.

Few days after my dad's office was burgled I came across a crowd of people trying to console a wailing lady. She drove her lady machine to the market to purchase some beverages. She packed her lady machine across the shop where she wanted to do her shopping as there was no packing space in front of the shop only to come out to meet the sudden disappearance of her bike.

(I saw this happened with my very little eyes). A bike man collided with a woman in front of my place of work and the woman was badly injured and the bike man had mild bruises. The witnesses insisted that the man must take the woman to the nearest hospital for treatment immediately. The man had no choice than to park his motorcycle at the side of the road, stop a taxi that conveyed him and the lady to the hospital. after treatment the poor man came back for his property(motorcycle) only to be greeted with an empty space. The whiskers(thieves) have again whisk the motorcycle away. His perplexed expression and the confused pace at which he was going about looking for his means of livelihood (his motorcycle) is still fresh in my memory.

And just three days ago an elderly man packed his new motorcycle at the side of my mom's shop close to the market to get something very urgent at the market. Just within a space of three minutes the motorcycle vanished from sight. Some market women testified that they actually saw a young man trying to start the motorcycle with a wire and they thought it was his. The man was in great sorrow. I got it on lease just a week ago, he lamented.

THE ISSUE OF HOUSE AND VEHICLE BURGLARY

I was a victim of this
Few months ago, on a Sunday to be precised. We came back from church to meet our house vandalised, wardropes broken, window protectors dismantled like a car smashed by a lorry, clothes scattered everywhere like the leaves of a tree during the harmattan, beds were removed from it original space and thrown about like the mat of a leper. It was a sore sight to behold. If I had the opportunity to meet with the burglar, i could have asked him if the land our house was erected on happened to be his supposed inheritance or if he has any deep-seated animosity against any of us. the burglary was a spiteful one (more like a "revenge") though we lost most of our valuables (laptops, money etc).we were glad the house wasn't burnt down.

Today, one of my mom's supplier came to town with his van. He made a mistake of leaving his bag of money in the van to drop something for a customer and to collect his fee from another customer across the road. He came back to see his side glass shattered on the floor and his bag containing thousands of money he made from the supply was taken. Poor man! No one knew when or how the glass was broken not even the shop owners close to where he packed the car heard the sound of a broken glass.

I have heard so many cases of car and house bulgary, but I just decided to share the ones In which I actually saw and had a word with the victims.

i only pray and hope for a better uromi town🙏
