Society headed towards collapse?

As far as I can tell we’re in the beginning stages of cascading systemic collapse.

There is a lot happening right now, holy sh*t!

We went from COVID-19 to global lockdown which severely impacted the global economy to protests focusing on racial injustice to President Trump proposing the use of military force to contain the riots. If we look at other countries that have seen major destabilization or just look at our own history the signs are pretty clear.

I haven’t done enough research to make any predictions about where this is headed or how long it will take. There are some good things I’m seeing, for example I perceived the global pause (lockdown) to be a positive thing. I think collectively we needed to take a break. I see protesting racial injustice as a positive thing as well. My concerns are that the economic impact of the lockdown will be massive and that the bad actors using the protests to incite violence and loot will detract from the positive impact that the protests could have made. I’m also concerned that this cascade that we’re in will take a long time to play itself out.

Is there anything we can do about it?

My hope is that enough of people are able to maintain clarity and good sense making to help stabilize this situation sooner rather than later.

I believe that beyond my ability to perceive and recognize patterns that a higher order intelligence is at play. I have experienced emergence from chaos in my own life so I choose to believe that it’s possible for us as a species as well.

If that is the case, it doesn’t change the fact that we’re most likely in for a very bumpy ride and it doesn’t change the empathy I have for the people who feel the most affected by what’s happening right now.
