Cognitive Biases, Judgement and stereotyping - What should we know and follow.

Did you ever notice, how your thought influenced by others? Society has a huge impact on our thinking process. No wonder as society shapes what we are, it gives us recognition. It's not unusual to support or behave in a certain way to not left behind from the social norm. It's understandable why people behave this way.

You may find a thousand research on cognitive bias. But the thing is, it's hard to learn from researches. As long as we fail to realize the effects and necessity to change our behaviour, we will not take any action to change. And, as I have said it's really tough to make anyone understand that their behaviour is judgemental, they are stereotyping thing and they are actually biased so this article may not also gonna help that much. I'm not giving any definition. Definitions are just one click behind your understanding. Rather I feel the necessity to talk a little bit about it.

Assuming anything from anyone's appearance, their behaviour may not always true. So, be aware of that. Our single word is enough to hurt anyone. It's not our duty to judge or assume anything about someone's appearance or behaviour. You can see sometimes we really act irrationally because the majority of the society think that way. But it's not impossible to do a little research on a certain thing before we present any judgemental response.

Respecting others opinion and choice no matter what is necessary. Yeah, sometimes it's hard to accept things when it's totally opposite. I'm not saying you have to support which contradicts to your ethics. But there's always a better way to resist, I believe. If we resist accepting others, their culture, way of life, belief; it's hard to have respect for them and not stereotype them. Also, exploring more ethnicity can help us get rid of cognitive biases. Practising compassion can help a lot. We can do that in our everyday life. It's like being aware of our action and response towards others. If you have interests to grow and develop yourself as a human, you gradually can learn and include these in your life.
