Society is a carnival of masks. Every morning when we get up, we all put on a mask, that's what we show the world while, for some reason, our true face remains hidden.
There are many types of masks, some hide great frustrations and desires, others hide fears and concerns, many hide pain and suffering. Likewise, others disguise passions prohibited and censored by society. Finally there is the one already mentioned by some authors, mask of sanity, leaving behind an endless number of unresolved psychiatric disorders. In other words, daily we parade between them masks of hypocrisy, of joy, rectitude, bravery, serenity, honesty and goodness.
These masks give the false sense of security and adaptation, we believe that by using them we protect ourselves and others, but that is not the truth. It is a mask that weighs and does not offer a solution, sooner or later it falls off and can break, bringing with it endless consequences.
All this always makes me wonder: What would become of our society if we did not live in a carnival of masks?
