Although it's one of the most important socio-political concepts of the last two centuries, the definition of public opinion has always generated controversy in the social sciences.

Areas such as political science, psychology, communication theory and sociology have tried to understand it from their own perspective, probably because its complexity invites us to approach it from multiple forms of knowledge.

Individuals are part of groups whose social position influences their view of what surrounds them. This vision is modulated throughout life by interaction with other groups, by experiences, changes and social events, by ideological and emotional aspects, by the influence of the media, by participation in networks, forums, etc...

Public opinion encompasses different discourses, arguments and even contradictions formed throughout our history, the understanding of which requires methods and tools complementary to the classic surveys.

I think public opinion is the general consensus on how everybody feels on a particular subject or matter. People don't tend to think rationally, they think emotionally and emotions can be easily swayed that's why public opinion is always changing.
