It seems that in the world we live in today, we no longer have control over who we are. Perhaps we are given the freedom to choose who we want to be but when we are criticised for being beyond the limitations of society, is that really freedom? We are defined by norms. We are obligated to rules. We conform to what we believe will make us acceptable to society. In reality, in our efforts to become someone, we become like everyone and succumb to nothing.
It is in our youth that these expectations unveil themselves in the most blatant manner. We are bombarded with images of people we are expected to look like. With the help of technology, we are provided with means to attempt to achieve expectation. If we are unable or unwilling to attain this objective, society reminds us that we are not good enough. The world is rough. Our souls become splintered. Again we find ourselves searching for new goals, new ways to improve ourselves and, essentially, fixing what was never broken.
We are torn apart with complaints of our imperfection. We are left, shredded, to waver through our days. We are sad and we feel shattered but we are not yet defeated.
I want to encourage you to take a stand. Break this chain of events and help make a change. Let's stand together, unite and transform our entire world.
