Why do you think this happens?steemCreated with Sketch.

in society •  7 years ago

I have been in marketing for a little while now and I have noticed something in my own journey that is a bit disturbing and I set out to figure out why.

When I have posted content that typically was funny in nature or pointed out a societal norms they would typically get a ton of attention by folks commenting, sharing, and reacting to the post. Compared to my posts that had educational value or incite, these posts would normally get some attention but not as much as the funny ones. Putting this to the test I proceeded to post some of each every week and see what would happen. Over and over again the comical posts won the cake.

This month I set out to promote a cause that is very close to my heart. I placed a fundraiser on my sites and was quiet surprised to the reaction, or lack there of. No comments, no action was taken, and no reactions to show virtual support. So sitting perplexed as why this came about I started thinking. Has society come so far that we have stopped caring about other's pain? Is the economy hurting folks so bad that we have stopped helping each other? Or is it that there have been so many scams that people just do not trust others at all?

I am looking for your feedback. Tell me what you think on media reactions.
