Socrates was a great Greek Athenian ethicist. He is called the father of Western ethics. He is the ancient founder of Western ethics.

Six great teachings of Socrates

  1. Be as you wish to seem

  2. Know Thy limitation

  3. Knowledge is virtue, Virtue is Knowledge

  4. Expand your horizons of knowledge

  5. Be contented with what you have 6. Define what you want.

    1. Be as you wish to seem: That is to live one to others vision. If we have a firm decision and act accordingly, then no one would be there to tell that we can't. That means fizeteadfastness about which Almighty God says, "The steadfast will be paid their wages in full without any reckoning

    2. Know Thy limitation: In the words of Socrates, "I know that I'm intelligent because know that I know nothing." This sort of submission to 'self prevents a man from doing harm to 'self as well as to others.

    3. Knowledge is virtue, virtue is knowledge: The ultimate aim of Socrates philosophical method is always ethical. Socrates believed that if one knows what the good is, one will always do what is good. Thus if one truly understands the meaning of courage, self-control, or justice, one will act in a courageous, self- controlled and just manner. The corollary to this view is that all vice, then, must be due to ignorance. Nobody, he believes, knowingly does what is wrong. They always think that what they are doing is right.

    4. Expand your horizons of knowledge: No one should consider himself as the vessel full of knowledge, keep Confirmed it to his own interest and wish. Rather he is under obligations to treat him as a flame to enlighten his people by kindling the flame of knowledge. Concealing of knowledge should be punished by bridle of fire.

    5. Be contented with what you have: Socrates states that he who is not contented with what he has, would not be contented with what he would like to have. True contentment, therefore lies in happiness in taking pleasure in what we have, regardless of the circumstances.

6. Define what you want: Socrates thinks that the beginning of wisdom is the definition of terms. People face problem but not being careful and clear what they wish for. If misrepresentation of their words occurs, this will bring huge and regrettable mistakes in their life and living.

Thus it is clear Socrates the great philosopher has had in his value-concept explaining it in different morals of ethical values. He has faith in God from whom he has developed the concepts of love and endurance to be great in getting pleasure and satisfaction render to humanitarian services.
