About a week ago, the team was at an exhibition where we met with potential clients and partners who wanted to build #apps and deploy services for their business needs.
One of the frequently asked questions was “How much?” ; which never really has a simple answer to be honest. It usually depends on the tech you are building, the services to be integrated, potential users, user demographics, launch date, platform to be deployed on, and so on and so forth.
So if you want something awesome to be built, be ready to do your research, be ready to listen, OR you can just go to buy a script online and ask a poor developer to tweak it for you (in that case be ready for a lot of disappointments, if you are only thinking about the initial cost). For instance, if you wanted to design a Netflix kind of app. It would involve a lot of deliverables and resources.
I will list a bunch of things below – Who are targeting?
– What are the platforms you are building for? #Web , #Android, #IOS, Desktop and so on
– Where will you get your content from?
– Is it gonna paid or free? If free, For how long before the users have to pay ? If #premium, how much?
– Will user register before using the app Or It launches straightforward
– Have you designed your logo and UI?
And that is just a tip of the iceberg. There are so many things I have not even asked;
Where are you gonna host your media content? A cloud service or physical server.
I know it is overwhelming but it all can be done. You just have to get someone to help with these questions or do it yourself so you can budget properly and make the correct decisions. Developers in most cases can’t really answer all of these questions. Get a project manager or consultant and they get the right parties involved
