California breaks record for Solar Energy Generation

In California, the solar power industry is having a great summer. For the second time in as many years, the largest electricity grid in the state broke its own solar electricity power generation record. The 8,030 megawatt number was reached just after 13:06 local time on July 12th. The Independent System Operator CAISO reported that this is the equivalent of powering 2 million households. This record did not include any solar power generated from roof mounted systems and included only utility-scale installations.

That goes to show that renewable energy is prevalent and could be used to carry technology forward. What do you think about this record and what record do you think will be crossed off next? Let us know in the comments below.
