Solar beginnings of SteemVan

Well it's official there is not that much sun in Oregon. It's an extremely cloudy and windy day add to it the rain.

Definitely a good way to pressure test the van and see how dry it is. I did discover a interesting leak. As soon as it can dry out I am going to make sure to heavily patch.

I'm really excited for when I have enough solar panels that I can charge even with indirect light.

And I'm definitely interested in any idea or help with the solar setup.

Now I get to learn about electricity and wiring more I guess!

I have discovered that the cigarette lighter doesn't really charge very well. I think that I should definitely track down some wiring help.

Can't wait for the stove!

If it's being filtered through glass or transparent plastic, it will diminish the efficiency quite a bit. That thing should be exposed on the roof. It's facing up, right? If it's sideways on a window that's in the wall, the sunlight won't be hitting it straight-on, which also impacts efficiency.

You'll be better off long term with panels like these, permanently roof mounted.

And I was wanting to talk with you about the build. Your a tech guy. Well the coolest tech guy I know! Thanks for the info!

Yeah I'm fitting this all I to the budget but for always having power? And yeah I'm looking for the high efficient ones for sure. But yeah let her charge! Maybe a deck off the back for extra Solar panels? That would be a rain cover for sure!

Any start is a good start! Solar is the future.

What are you charging? Might be best to make a mobile setup that you can move inside and out so it doesn’t get stolen/damaged

Yeah I was thinking quick release and being able to hide them. Or solid Mount... But yeah using it to charge the entire van and appliances and ps4.

Sorry for the late reply. But you could probably buy another battery so you would have less “downtime”

Did you find a solution?

Yep need more panels. Them more batteries.

Let alone a signal booster. Videogames in the wild!
