so continuing from previous post

the was panel starting to take shape the board i designed before hand but i made my cables a tad too long so it didn't fit

20170702_183125.jpg
i was nearly finished so i took the panel out side to get some test results and to be honest the cells i had brought were quite disappointing the didn't produce nearly half what it said they would and the voltage varied greatly between the cells with the 8 cells i broke i should of got around 21V from the cell i was getting around 14v
but this could have been my wiring or the fact i hadn't used flux cable i did mention this was a cheap experiment

the near end result

well apart from the disappointing voltage i really enjoyed doing this project
i need to add a blocking diode to this now to stop charge going back to the battery
and make a case for the panel to sit in
but if i do say so my self for a first solar panel making project i am more then happy with how it looks the research before hand was greatly necessary and with out it this project would have failed being if i hadn't gone + to - in the wiring of the cells the voltage would have stayed the same wiring like this makes the voltage increase working towards the target mark of 25V
many thanks for reading this part of the project

I tried making my own panels once and had similar results. I ended up finding cheap panels on ebay here and there. I built a box on wheels with my all my inverters and controllers in it. I have a small post on it in my blog you'll have to check out. Wait till you want to power your neighborhood. lol I also have a guy in a town near me that converts solar into hydrogen and runs his car and heats his house with it. I'll follow you for sure!
