The expense of going solar is the biggest drawback to people moving forward with it. Most think that solar is expensive without knowing details like what is in a system, pricing, and what you gain. I'll break it down for you...

A grid interconnected solar installation is actually pretty simple. How it works is it allows your solar panels to run your meter backwards and then when the sun is down uses the grid to run forwards. It consists of 3 parts, the panels, an inverter, and a bi-directional meter. Solar panels take in sunlight and through the photoelectric effect creating a direct current flow of electrons. Inverters take this direct current and convert it into alternating current, which powers your home. Your bi-directional meter is provided by the local utility and tracks the amount of power created by your solar panels and how much is used when the sun is down. For most of the country there is net-metering that will give you a credit for the excess power your system creates. Through this program you can actually get paid to produce clean energy.

To take these few parts and install them on your roof cost $9.25/W in 2007 and today costs about $3.30/W based on the national average. These numbers come from Lawrence Berkeley National Labs report Tracking the Sun IX. So, in the last 10 years the cost of going solar has come down 70%! Looking at an average system of 6kW we are talking about $20,000. That is less than a small car for something will power you home for 25-30 years.

Now to have someone with this much money sitting around is rare, so the game changed further providing financing and nothing out of your pocket! That was not a real option 10 years ago and this is what completely removes the expense of solar. Monthly it is on par with your electricity bill and there are no pollutants created!

Above all, there is the long term monetary savings. Currently, we will be paying for electricity from womb to tomb, but with solar there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Depending on your situation you can have 10 years without an electricity bill at the short end or 30 years at the long. The real expense is not going solar, it hurts your wallet and environment. The only way to find out exactly how much you can save is to have a solar assessment.

What this gives you is a choice…

You can continue burning fossil fuels polluting our air, water, and land. Waiting for the next rate increase, inevitable pipeline spill, another rig explosion, or trapped miner incident,

OR

You can take control of your power by installing rooftop solar, save tens of thousands of dollars and know that your system emits no pollution, saves you tremendously over its life, and is the technology of the future.

As an energy advisor I help you utilize renewable energy in the way that works best for you, the most important action is to simply go solar. Help your wallet and the environment.

Crew makes it simple to go solar, all we need to do is look at your energy profile from your electricity bills to make an assessment. Email your electricity bill to the address below and I will get back to you with your solar options.

Thanks for watching, please like and subscribe to stay up to date on the pathway to going solar. Now I want all of you to go forth and spread sunshine.

Go forth and spread sunshine,
