Through one person sin came into the world, and through one person salvation came into world too

Today in the roman catholic calendar is the day we celebrate the solemnity of the Immaculate conception of the blessed virgin mary the mother of Jesus Christ.

This is a real life event that took place 2000 years ago, and in remembrance of that glorious occurrence, we do commemorate our blessed virgin mary who was highly favoured among all the women on earth.

How sin came into the world

According to the story of the creation of the world, we came to understood that after the creation of the world, that man lived a happy stress free life until when our first man and woman (Adam and Eve) disobeyed and sinned against God which brought sin, evil and death to the world through which you and I are victims of that purnishment today.

The gift of God

But thanks be to God for His love and mercy who gave us a gift that surpasses every other gift which bring salvation to the world by sending His only begotten son: Jesus to be born through a highly favoured woman: Virgin Mary as a redemtion to our lost glory.

The Ransome

After sin, suffering and death entered the world through Adam and Eve , God was not happy with the way man was suffering, He decided pay the ransom by sending our Lord Jesus Christ to be born through a virtous woman si as to bring salvation, joy and peace back to the world so that as sin came to the world through one man and one woman, salvation will also come to the world through one man (JESUS) and one woman (VIRGIN MARY), this was to only means to balance the equation, through which what was destroyed was to be restored.

Why Mary?

This is the question that kept ringing in my mind everytime I meditate upon this mystery, mary was not the only lady or woman available then, but after all research, I realised that mary did'nt get the opportunity for free, but she worked for it and she was prepared also coupled with the grace of God which was in abundance unto her.
And these are the few things I think make her qualify for this divine assignment:

  • She was a virgin
In those days, virginty was a treasure and a sign of a good moral home, Mary unlike every other women then and what is obtainable in our society today, she was able to keep herself to be used by God by abstaining from every fleshly desires knowing that her body is the temple of the holy spirit, this is one of the reason she was found worthy of this divine mission.
  • She had faith in God

Although she was not the only virgin then, but this one characteristic makes her outstanding and different from every other virgin then, she had the word of God in her and she believed in it, and as we all know according to the word of God in Romans 10:17

Faith cometh by hearing and hearing the word of God.

Through the word of God which was in Mary, she had faith in God such that when God spoke to her through Angel Gabriel, she could'nt denied nor doubted it as recorded in the Holy scripture according to Luke 1:28-38

Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you!” But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and considered in her mind what sort of greeting this might be. And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favour with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there will be no end.” And Mary said to the angel, “How will this be, since I know not man?” And the angel said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God. And behold, your kinswoman Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son; and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren. For with God nothing will be impossible.”And Mary said, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.”

  • She was higly favoured with grace

In life, if you are with the grace of God, you are with the disgrace of the devil, and if the grace of God works for you, no man without grace can compete with you.

Mary was highly favoured with the grace of God that was why she was so lucky to be considered as the mother of the one who brought salvation to the world.

Moral Lessons

  1. Virginity is a pride and a precious thing, cherish it, honour it and keep it till your time comes and God will honour you for it.

  2. Faith is the only substance that can make impossible things to be possible for what is impossible in the eyes of man is 100% possible with God, so read the word of God, believe it, trust in God and have faith in God.

  3. If you should ask God for anything, ask for grace and favour of God for these alone with set you to the top.

  4. When preparation meets opporrunity, success is assured.
Always be prepared at all time for if you fail to prepare, you are preparing to fail.

So with all these, Virgin Mary deserves to be honoured.

I beleive the story will be of advantage and assistance to you.

Thanks be to God and to the Church who in her wisdom gave us this day to commemorate the conception of the mother of our saviour and redeemer. Mary should be to all Christian an icon of great motherhood judging by her role over our saviour Jesus Christ. I personally have turned to her in the most difficult of situations to act as mediatrix and I've never been left unaided.

What a timely post from you @mike4christ. But we'd love to know more about the feast: immaculate conception. What does it mean? Whose conception, Mary's or Jesus's? Is it celebrated every 8th December? Why is it celebrated?, e.t.c so as to know more without any derailment.

Well done once again.

'nigeria' is supposed to be among your tags

its alright sir, thank you

Oh hail the mother of Christ..a woman of virtue, the queen of heaven and earth, without her i wonder what could have be the fate of man, because salvation we talked about comes from God through. To God Be thy Glory. That post is lovely @mike4christ.

thank you very much dear, it's a huge advantage to us who know the part MARY is playing in the salvation of mankind, so do take advantage of that and ask her for her intercession and anything you need will be given to you by her son via her intercession, remember how she did it in the wedding feast at canaan.
