The Truth about Pasteurized Juices -- (Day 25 of Fasting)steemCreated with Sketch.

in solidfoodvacation •  7 years ago

Today I drank 32 ounces of the juice of muscadine grapes and lemon. What you see here was cold pressed...and definitely not cooked! :) I could not wait!! Earlier in the day I dedicated to dry fast, and I broke the fast with the grape-lemon juice around 3 PM. The juice tasted so sweet, and I was soooo grateful :) This was day 25 of my juice feast ... a solid food vacation!

No bowel movement today or yesterday.

A few times during this fast I have stepped outside of a typical juice feast where you drink 1 gallon of juice per day. Today, for example, I had 1/4 of a gallon of juice and about 2 cups of water.

Did you know...?

Did you know that uncooked, raw juices are dramatically more nutritious than pasteurized juices? Naturally, this depends on the ripeness and freshness of the produce.

So why do companies even pasteurize juices?

The business lie told to consumers is: "pasteurizing juice will kill any harmful bacteria!" Yea, too bad you're not going to find any harmful bacteria in fruits, anyways, unless you're company is completely and grossly negligent. Annnndd too bad you're also...

  • killing all beneficial bacteria,
  • destroying all essential enzymes,
  • denaturing (deforming and rendering unavailable) all of the essential amino acids, and
  • erasing most vitamin content!

In terms of your health, cooking your juices (pasteurization) is lame. As for nutrition quantity and quality verse the price, you're getting ripped off.

The real answer to pasteurization is simple:

Pasteurized juices taste much sweeter. Why? Because the cooking will either destroy simple sugars or bind the sugars to other proteins or form harder to digest, complex sugars (polysaccharides). These polysaccharides are ultimately more acidic. Years of this acidity eventually burns our cells (and tissues) to the point where they are termed by modern doctors as "cancer".

This allows the supplier to use crappier quality (less fresh, less ripe) fruits, which ultimately reduces costs and allows a greater supply. Pasteurized juices are all about your money, not your health. Now that your intellectual side is satisfied, the basic business reason behind pasteurizing...

Pasteurized juices have a longer shelf life. The product lasts longer, the businesses preserve their product's profitability, and your health degrades slowly over time. I am not saying that pasteurized juices are "bad", and in fact, the mentality of fruitarianism really isn't "this thing is bad, that thing is good, I cannot eat this, I can only eat that", etc. etc. The point--and overall mindset--is that food items are relatively optimal or non-optimal for your physiology. Cooked juice is not optimal, but if you absolutely must have something to drink to lessen your suffering, then cooked juice may do more good than bad :)

The Masterfast protocol somewhat promotes Pasteurized Juices.

Say whatever good or bad you want about Gino's master fast protocol. The reality is that cooking anything destroys the life in the food with fire. Isolated substances (unbalanced drugs that unbalance the body) are ultimately an end result to cooking / pasteurization. In severe cases of physiological imbalance, isolated substances can be equally appropriate in comparison to whole / buffered foods (non-isolated substances). Isolated substances are rarely an optimal choice in our civilization today.

You will find this simplified explanation useful: when food items are stripped of their vitamins, minerals, trace elements, or any items, these food items become more acidic. This is because the vitamins, minerals, trace elements, etc. refer to basic/alkaline elements that--once removed--leave the food items remaining elements in an acidic state. When you introduce acidic elements to your body, such as the pasteurized juice, these acidic elements are naturally forced to take the alkaline elements from your body. This is what breaks down your body, rips apart your cells, decays your teeth, weakens your bones, and so on.

Lesson Learned...

If your food or juice does not contain raw, living enzymes ... then those food items will rob your body of its own living enzymes. This information is interesting for all of us who are concerned with anti-aging, reversing blurry eyesight, eradicating mental illness, rebuilding the teeth, and obtaining perfect health and quality of life.

Enjoy! :)
