Wisdom of Solomon: Whoever digs a pit may fall into it; whoever breaks through a wall may be bitten by a snake

The book of Ecclesiastes is attributed to King Solomon, and in it, this famous sage left us beautiful pearls of wisdom. And these wisdom teachings are important, because wisdom, like a candlestick placed on high, illuminates and shows us the correct path of life, and wisdom itself has a great advantage, it does not need to be hidden as it happens with sin, and so we avoid unforeseen destructive events that do so much damage, the famous "stumbling stones" of which the wise Jesus spoke so much.
And in one of his teachings, as a good wise, the King Solomon invited us to avoid evil and error: "Whoever digs a pit may fall into it; whoever breaks through a wall may be bitten by a snake" Ecclesiastes 10:8. This saying has similarities with other spiritual teachings: "Do no evil, and evil will not overtake you; avoid wickedness, and it will turn away from you" Ben Sira 7:1-2; "The wise fear the LORD and shun evil, but a fool is hotheaded and yet feels secure" Proverbs 14:16.
There is a story in the Bible that tells us the importance of this teaching, of how cheaters often fall into their own trap, or in other words, how the evil they think for others comes back to them; the Bible in the Book of Esther tells us the story of Mordecai and Haman.
Due to a palace rivalry, Haman, who was the most important minister of King Xerxes, fell out with Mordecai, and knowing Haman that Mordecai was a Jew, he planned not only his assassination but also that of all the Jews who lived in the Persian empire. But an unforeseen event intervened in Haman's wicked plans, a "stumbling stone", Queen Esther, wife of King Xerxes, who, being a Jew and a relative of Mordecai, denounced Haman's plans before the King, with which Haman died in the gallows that himself had built for Mordecai.
When wise men like Solomon advise us to turn away from sin, it is because it really is so, mercy and justice have their retribution both in this physical life and in the next.
