One of the most interesting moments that I ever saw was when Christina Hoff Sommers was being shouted down on a college campus. When a student asked the hecklers if he could just hear what she had to say, one of the hecklers responded, "I've heard it. I don't need to hear it again."
The narcissism was on full display. It's easy to not hear it again. Stay in your dorm. Read a book. Get laid or masturbate or whatever the hell else. You don't have to go to the lecture. This wasn't about the student not wanting to hear it again. It was about the student not wanting other people to hear it.
Over the last couple of weeks, the entire illiberal Left has been howling with the same narcissism in regard to social media. Yes, a lot of people on the illiberal Right have been celebrating because their speech is being allowed again. Every win for free speech comes with the caveat that we need to fight for rights of illiberals to express themselves. Still, in this case and at this time in history, it's the illiberal Left becoming hysterical just like that heckler, not because they have to hear or see or read anything, but because they want to continue to disallow access to other people.
Musk isn't taking away the block option. I wouldn't even take away the block option. If you don't wanna see it, you don't have to. That's not the concern of any of these people. Their concern is they you'll see something that they don't want you to see and they think that you can't handle.
