Some song artists get rich off of the dumbest lyrics.

There are a lot of songs out there that are about living in the moment and following your dreams and doing what YOU want in life. It feeds people with low-time preference and irresponsible behaviors and enables their poor decisions.

...but what if your short-term want in life doesn't lead to a long-run happiness? What if you doing what you want hurts other people? Are we supposed to be clueless libertines and degenerates at our loved ones' expenses? Where is the line between, "doing whatever you want" and thinking about your future and also thinking about the other people you love in this life? Those vital points are often left out of such hymns.

It just bugs me when it's like, "just ignore every part of reality and live in some bubble that doesn't exist in the real world"

Reminds me of Hollywood, many song artists live outside of reality and sell false hopes and dangerous actions. They are often short-sighted and lead to harmful behaviors.

Why not think holistically about your overall life, not just some short-term urge? Why not encourage people to find harmony between themselves and their dreams, and the reality of the world? Why not encourage people to think about their relationships before jumping head first into something that could damage others?

It's just really hard to stomach some of the lyrics when the advice is absolute shit and dangerous to boot.

Yes, I'm a bit harsh, but when I hear songs like this and the lyrics are so devoid of logic and reason and purely emotionally based, it makes me sort of sick to my stomach. Like people are being brainwashed into this nonsense and they actually think the nonsense is a good idea because some dude with a microphone and a somewhat sizable crowd says some shit.

It's all so crazy to me, we truly live in a clown world where people just want to feed their delusions.
