Sophos acquires Rook Security and offers response services to threats and cyber attacks

Although there is a powerful expansion and very fast growth of automatic safety instruments, they are still not adequate to satisfy all business requirements. Still essential is the human factor. Sophos understands this and that's why he purchased Rook Security, a firm specialized in recognizing threats and reacting to occurrences of safety.

Sophos acquires Rook Security to enhance the identification of threats and reaction to assaults. They are called MDR services, an acronym for "managed detection and reaction" in English, because they foresee the identification of threats and the reaction of a group of specialists to manage the whole process. The aim of these services is to assist businesses avoid threats or to know how to respond if an attack has already been carried out.

MDR services are complementary to those based on automated instruments, such as Sophos Endpoint Detection and Response, because they are unable to create choices and schedule a reaction plan: they are just instruments and, as such, someone has to use them. This is someone who provides the MDR services.

Sophos is developing its own MDR facilities using the expertise obtained in January from both Rook Security and DarkBytes. This enables the business to provide its clients with access to a service offering 24-hour safety professionals capable of monitoring the scenario, analyzing any issues and responding appropriately.

The service is born thinking of those businesses that do not have the required expertise to carry out these operations on their own, or that do not have safety personnel explicitly devoted to dealing with these elements.

Through its channel partners, Sophos will deliver the service. No further information is available at this time.
