Elymas, the sorcerer: The hand of the Lord is against you, and for a time you will be blind and unable to see the light. Acts 13:11

The Book of Acts is the last text in the Bible to mention the magi, but unlike the gospel of Matthew, the Book of Acts does so with a negative connotation by mentioning Bar-Jesus, Elymas, and Simon as false and lying people, opposed to the Kingdom of God and the designs of the divine providence.
And specifically, the Book of Acts recounts the meeting between the apostle Paul and the sorcerer Elymas at the beginning of the first missionary journey of Paul on the island of Cyprus.
And because of opposition to the dictates of the holy spirit, Paul cursed Elymas and condemned him to be deprived of sight for a time. As in the Old Testament, more precisely the Book of Deuteronomy, and the four misfortunes of Luke (Luke 6:24-26), Paul taught with this fact that the new covenant made in the person of Jesus, just as it implies blessings, the gift of eternal life, also implies curses for those who reject Lord Jesus. Beatitude and misfortune are life choices.
This is how the Book of Acts tells us how the apostle Paul cursed Elymas:
"The proconsul, and intelligent man, sent for Barnabas and Saul because he wanted to hear the word of God. But Elymas the sorcerer opposed them and tried to turn the proconsul from the faith. Then Saul, who was also called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked straight at Elymas and said, ´You are a child of the devil and an enemy of everything that is right!´ You are full of all kinds of deceit and trickery. Will you never stop perverting the right ways of the Lord?
Now look, the hand of the Lord is against you, and for a time you will be blind and unable to see the light of the sun.´ Immediately mist and darkness came over him, and he groped about, seeking someone to lead him by the hand" Acts 13:7-11.
