From life experience, she has a point. I sound 'white' but I'm of middle eastern decent. Seems like I get far better treatment as opppsed to my colleagues that have accents. I've also had Caucasian couples tell me in person it's a relief to speak to a minority they can 'understand'. We throw the racist card around too many times and it's just a shield that makes us drift form one another. In order to have a more accepting and civilized world, dialogue about race is vital.
