Day 13

Today started with breakfast (Calvin told us that when he got up early to study this morning he saw the leopard sitting in a tree. It just jumped down and ran away – how terrifying!) and then our first test at 0730, it was on what we have learnt this week; Introduction To Guiding, Ethics, Radio Procedures and Vehicles. It was an hour long and out of fifty, most of us finished within half an hour!

I used the internet for a bit, had some toast (breakfast number two at 0900!) and then went for a walk around our little reserve with Jess, Rachael, Tanza and Katie. We spent about two hours following the paths, looking at tracks, admiring pretty flowers and looking at various caterpillars, grasshoppers, snakes and butterflies.

At the moment everything is really beautiful, lush and green, it will be interesting to see what everything looks like in a few months time in the dry season.

We got back and made ourselves cheese and ham toasties for lunch (at the weekends food is provided but we have to turn it into meals ourselves).

I spent the afternoon learning some birds, reading, chatting and relaxing by the pool. We had another braai for dinner, with garlic bread, salad and potato salad. After eating we sat round the campfire for a bit and then I went to bed, around 2200.
