Today was very chilled. We didn’t have to be anywhere until 0900! I got up around 0730 showered and had some cereal for breakfast. There was a list of things we needed to bring with us (passport, medical insurance, driving licence, etc), so I collected those and then wandered to the classroom, which is just a couple of minutes away. We spent the morning, being issued books (a whole stack of them – and that’s just the compulsory ones!), filling in paperwork, having briefs about the course, health and safety and various other boring but necessary bits and pieces.
Brunch was served at 1100, we had some sort of quiche with lots of vegetables and some meat, some sort of muffin/scone thing and melon. After brunch we finished off the admin bits and then we were issued with some Bushwise clothes (but not uniform). We got a fleece, t-shirt, fluffy hat and a baseball cap. Then we were free to spend the rest of the day as we wanted.
We had the afternoon to ourselves. We spent it mainly in the classroom just chatting and getting to know each other, we covered a wide variety of topics, from haggis and black pudding to our favourite pizza companies. We also had a bit of a flick through some of the books we have been given. Dinner was at 1730, cottage pie with salad and the left over muffins from breakfast, very yummy indeed. After dinner we sat and either chatted, played cards or played dice. I went to bed around 2200, so I could get a good nights sleep ready for tomorrows 0700 lecture.
