Trump Crushing the Serpent's Head

in sovereigngrace •  7 years ago

I saw a painting today by a Roman Catholic which depicted President Trump crushing the serpent's head.

Upon reflection, I would suggest that all forms of semi-Pelagianism are essentially seeking to replace Christ as the one who makes peace between God and men. Whether it's Rome or Arminianism or Federal Vision, all these heresies, which borrow elements from the Pelagian heresy, teach that men can and must crush the serpents head, at least in part, for themselves.

I agree with your assessment of modern heresy.
But I would not be surprised if the symbolism referred more to the snakes in Washington.

Exactly, they all contain the same core lie but they only dress it up a little differently.

Genesis 3:5 KJVS
For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

Same lie, different garb. I will say this much. Trump is a figure that seems to support nationalistic ideals. Nationalism the sense that we hope for our country, countrymen and the structures that provide for their temporal good is fine but, as with anything, it is able to be turned into an idol which seems to be the case here.
