A lot of this can be contributed to Pareidolia . In short we see things that look like aliens or even alien building on Mars because we are good at looking for patterns. So good at it that we sometimes mistake for example rocks on Mars for a piece of bones. Of course this doesn't mean in every example like the one given in the article isn't a legit object. The fact is we have no way of knowing unless we go and examine it in person or with even more advanced robots on Mars.
