Censorship on Steemit via spaminator

in spaminator •  5 years ago

I am coming across more and more people who are being 'blacklisted' by spaminator.
I write for alt-media due to the censorship and fake news that prevails in the MSM.
I recently came onto steemit in the hope of meeting like minded people.
I am mortified to find out that there groups (un-elected I presume?) who can blacken people's name by blacklisting them.
Who appointed you as the censorship police of steemit?
Were you democratically elected by the users of steemit?

I have seen that people have to apologize for their so called crimes.
This is appalling. It reminds me of Stalinist Russia where people had to make confessions to avoid imprisonment by the secret police.

In a capitalist society where wealth inequality is rampant you will find people who use images or text that wasn't written /taken by them. In many cases I am sure these 'crimes of plagiarism' maybe a temporary lapse in judgement.

Should we slander these people for this so called crime?

How about some kindness and understanding towards our fellow citizens on this so called decentralized platform?

I am sure there are plenty of people who will argue that plagiarism is a major crime that must be stamped out on steemit.

To the creators of spaminator: what makes you any different to the thought police of the MSM and many institutions of capitalist society that try and exercise control over ordinary people?

These are the downvoting goons who have this self-righteous idea to abuse the free downvotes given on smaller channels. We've been trying to get these people and this general downvoting idea off of Steem since 2016 but the devs don't listen... obviously, whales have all the power and they benefit from limiting our rewards. Its less about censorship and more about them protecting their influence and steem power from alternative voices.

Welcome to the battle. :P

Thanks for your kind words - very helpful.
How can we fight back against them?

It would have to be with code. LOL , not much developer support on some things. I personally want that $.02SBD minimum to earn gone, it wasn't like this a few years back.

Just support who you'd like to support, and enjoy the time. Upvoting and getting more steem power will help grow smaller channels. Its an uphill battle with very small channels.

Have you any idea of how emotive the term blacklist is?
It is a very pernicious term to use.
By blacklisting people you effectively criminalize peoples blogs putting other users off from visiting them.
The vitriol of your reply speaks volumes.
I know people with mental health disabilities who have been very upset by you blacklisting them. Shame on you.
Plus who elected you to the position of policing steemit? Were you democratically voted into that position by the users of steemit?
