New DeepPoints Rules to fight the spammers
On the 24th of October, one of the DeepOnion Developers introduced the DeepPoint system. From that day onwards, members of the DeepOnion community got rewarded so called DeepPoints for creating new content such as threads and posts. The system was launched in order to reward members that contribute meaningful posts and promotional content for the wider community on a regular basis.
These so called DeepPoints were then automatically exchanged for DeepOnions on the special designed DeepPoint airdrop, every Sunday of the week. From day 1, the interest in this special airdrop was immense and the forum noticed a significant peak in both activity and flow of new members to the forum. In addition to this new system, they also released so called DeepDomination tasks. These tasks give members more DeepPoints when they perform those marketing orientated tasks. As a result of this, the DeepOnion project experienced a rise in the DeepOnion price, going up from roughly 0.70 USD to over 4 USD over the course of just a few weeks!
With all this success they also attracted abusers to the community who were doing literally everything in order to collect DeepOnions and therefore “free” money. The moderators of the DeepOnion community worked very hard to fight these abusers, but the amount of new members (mainly from Asia and in the neighborhood of) kept on rising and the abuse got worse by the day, resulting in numerous useless and low quality threads and posts. Most of those spammers did not take the time to read the forum rules and to use the search function on the forum, posting threads that were already discussed and answered many times. Good quality threads by well known and older members of the forum were snowed under which caused a lot of irritation within the community.
In order to fight the spammers and low quality posters, the developers and moderators decided to introduce a rule which only gives DeepPoints for the DeepDomination tasks. From next airdrop onwards, members of the community will NOT be rewarded DeepPoints for new threads, posts, likes and new followers. With this new rule, spammers will not be earning from their low quality posts anymore, which of course hurts for them. They can only earn DeepPoints with the so called DeepDomination tasks after their account exceeds the 7 day limit, but there low quality posts will be punished harder and they will lose more DeepPoints when posts are deleted, making spamming on the forum not rewarding anymore.
Older members of the community are happy with this new rule, but also state that they hope that the rules regarding when new members can participate in the DeepDomination tasks will be updated as well, since the project can not effort low quality and spammy posts being shared on the WorldWideWeb, since this will harm the reputation of DeepOnion and therefore the value of the coin.
What do you think of this new rule?
