By 2020, it is planned to link Madrid with high-speed lines with all provincial capitals.

Currently, high-speed trains run in seven directions: Madrid - Seville, Madrid - Malaga, Madrid - Barcelona, ​​Madrid-Huesca, Madrid - Valladolid, Malaga - Barcelona and Seville - Barcelona. Traveling in the first three directions takes about two and a half hours, and from Madrid to Valladolid can be reached in just an hour.

On all AVE trains on the Madrid-Seville direction, the service guarantees a maximum delay of 5 minutes and a full refund of the ticket price if the train is late for a longer time.

In other directions, if the delay is more than 15 minutes, 50% of the ticket cost is guaranteed and if it is over 30 minutes late - its full cost.

High-speed trains make up a tough competition for domestic flights. With comparable prices, traveling by rail differs from zero risk, independence from weather conditions, the lack of the need to arrive for landing with a time reserve for registration and inspection, the possibility of using mobile phones and laptops.
